A place where you can be yourself.

When you feel exhausted by life and you’re tired of feeling alone and stuck, I can help. My approach is compassionate, connected, nonjudgmental, and I bring understanding and sometimes even some humor. You can be yourself here.

If you’re feeling:

  • Exhausted

  • Lonely

  • Hopeless

  • Anxious

  • Numb

  • Scared

  • Sad/Heartbroken

  • Hurt

  • Lost

  • Like you could use someone to talk to

    . . .I can help.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.

About the Name: Black Cat Counseling

Black cats in the United States have often been considered a sign of evil or a bad omen. That’s a social construct that doesn’t match my experience of my own black cat. My black cat is one of the bright spots in my life. Though spirited, he’s not evil and he’s certainly not a bad omen.

Part of my approach to therapy entails shining a light on social constructs that don’t work for them. I help my clients examine the “should”s in their lives to determine whether it’s something that works for them or whether it’s something that’s not helpful.
